Here’s an important message to any personal trainer interested in passive income: When it’s time for you to stop consuming and start producing, generate multiple products and aim for a mere 1-2 sales a day. That’s all you need. Marketing expert Ryan Lee puts it along these lines: “You don’t need to hit a home run with every product. I’ll take doubles and singles all day long, thank you very much!”
Sure, I would love to hit a grand slam with one of my books, but not everyone is going to have Fifty Shades of Grey success. Daily doubles or singles is all it takes and if you have a bunch of players (i.e., products) that are doing this consistently, then you will achieve long-term success.
A former professor of mine at York University and one of my mentors, Dr. Tudor Bompa, put out 14 books that were translated into 18 languages and used in over 180 countries. His book sales are 160,000 in the U.S. and Canada and 750,000 around the world. If he made only $1 per sale, it would be close to a million dollars, but that’s a rather low estimate, usually an author makes more than that per unit.
Regardless, if you think you’re going to become a millionaire from your books, think again! It won’t happen. But if all your products add up to at least $1000 of passive income a month, that can change your lifestyle dramatically. For example, you’ll be able to afford organic food and grass-fed meats, a nicer set of wheels, an extra massage or two, regular restaurant visits, occasional weekend getaways, and so on.
Now, writing a book doesn’t have to take 10 years like it did for me on my first book, you can get it done in less than 3 months if you like. I show you how to do it in The Business of Personal Training. It’s not that difficult.
So get to it. Start generating some products and just keep rounding those bases one hit at a time!
