If you’ve built enough muscle mass and want to refine your physique, think of yourself as a sculptor. The mirror is your block of stone, and the weights are your tools. It’s time to chisel away and shape your ideal look.
Here’s a two-step process to help you achieve a more proportional and symmetrical physique.
Step 1: Rate Yourself
Evaluate your physique by rating each major muscle group on a scale of 1 to 10. Which muscles need more development? Which ones are overpowering your frame? The goal is to identify weak points and imbalances that need correction.
Step 2: Pump Up
Once you’ve determined your two most underdeveloped muscle groups, focus on them with a high-volume training approach. Immediately after your workout, stand in front of a mirror in your underwear.
“That’s your future looking back at you,” said Frank Zane, a three-time Mr. Olympia known for his perfectly balanced physique.
If you like what you see, that’s the direction you need to take. Specializing in those areas will bring you closer to the look you’re after.
